Women of 2010

served up one of the best and most consistent albums of the year, FLESH TONE. It was full of dirty beats, catchy melodies and  classic Kelis-ness. I had the wonderful opportunity of seeing her perform live at a very intimate gig in London a few months ago and she was grrreat. From her tone, to her style and stage presence, everything was on point. She looked beaut and is a beaut. I wish her every success for the future and hope she continues to smash out the tunes.

What can I say? From model to Hollywood star…Rosie is about to be catapulted to superstardom with her role in Transformers 3. She is the British Belle best known as a Victoria’s Secret Angel and ‘that’ model from the numerous campaigns she has been featured in year after year. 2011 looks like it’s going to be even bigger and better for her, but 2010 has definitely been good to her!

has blown up. Da-dun-dun. Love her or hate her, she’s the one laughing…all the way to the bank. She not only created quite the buzz, but she has managed to translate that buzz into something substantial. Fans and sales. Her debut album, PINK FRIDAY, flew off of shelves and she’s racked up a solid fan-base. She doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon and has done songs with just about everyone (Eminem, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Bon Iver, Christina Aguilera, Diddy, Drake, will.i.am….). I’m sure she’ll secure those last few artists she’s yet to jump on tracks with. [She’s very keen to collaborate with Queen B. I think her and Gaga would be JOKES too].

Alba is back. All I’ma say is…Valentine’s Day, The Killer Inside Me, Machete & Little Fockers. She has said in recent interviews that she is now in control and will only take on projects that she believes in/wants to do. If “The Killer Inside Me”/”Machete” are examples of this then I’m very keen to see what she’s going to do next.

RiRi started off the year promoting “Rated R”. We saw the release of RUDE BOY which blew up everywhere and saw Rihanna return to her island roots, which contrasted significantly to the darker tones on Rated R. Although she was still dropping singles from Rated R come Summer (Te Amo), Rihanna was quick to come out with her 5th LP, Loud. Released in November, Loud has already gone on to sell, sell, sell. With the huge success of lead single “Only Girl” and follow-up “What’s My Name?”, it’s very clear that this ‘girl’ can’t be stopped.

Stone’s lead role in EASY A has resulted in her first Golden Globe nomination (and I’m sure there’ll be plenty more to come). I think she’s awesomery. Nothing more needs to be said. She’s damn cooool.
