Album of the week
Jason Mraz
I won’t give up on us. Even if the skies get rough.
I’m giving you all my love. I’m still looking up.
LOVE IS A FOUR LETTER WORD is the fourth studio album from Jason Mraz. Opening with “The Freedom Song”, he declares ‘when I feel good I sing’. Oh how he speaks my truth. The album is instantly injected with soulful horns. From then on, the songs are full of guitar strumming, catchy melodies and vocals that boast bluesy riffs and then softer tones that utter, always charismatically, rather lovely lyrics. “I Won’t Give Up” has a Gustavo Santaolalla lilt to it, part soundtrack, part acoustic. File next to fellow contemporaries Damien Rice and Justin Nozuka.

Crush of the week
To be honest, Candice is my crush every week, but I had to blog this shoot from Muse’s #30 Summer 2012, shot by Mariano Vivanco.

Film of the week
MONEYBALL was one of my favourite films of last year. A lot of my friends were (and still are) hesitant to watch it, but you really do not need to like/understand baseball to enjoy this film [although obviously it helps if you do]. It is simply an amazing movie. The screenplay by Aaron Sorkin and Steven Zaillian + Bennett Miller’s direction + Mychael Danna’s beautiful score = perfection. Brad Pitt delivers a career-best performance and Jonah Hill is sensational as Peter Brand.
