Film of the week
Is that a should-vitation or an invitation?
TAKE THIS WALTZ stars Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen, Luke Kirby and Sarah Silverman. [Although it hit the film festival circuit last year, it sees its release in cinemas this month (in Australia and the US)]. The Canadian film, directed and wonderfully written by Sarah Polley, is stunning. At times it’s sexual, at times quirky and then sometimes it’s both. I just found myself hooked. I was entertained throughout. Polley is intense. I think I’ve become infatuated with a film about infatuation. I came away feeling incredibly inspired and am still days later, remembering random lines and thinking about the film. Williams is easily one of my favourite actresses and she is expressive (as always), vulnerable and naked – and I don’t mean nude, although she is in this film. She just lays herself bare and that is what I love about her. She always gives her all. I watched “Brokeback Mountain” again the other day and yip, you guessed it, she’s phenomenal in that too. Rogen delivers a career-best performance and I’m sure we will be seeing a lot more of Luke Kirby who is soulful, sensual and almost-too-perfect as Daniel. This really is a great film and I strongly recommend you watch it if you get the chance.

Song of the week
Misha B’s debut single “Home Run” is a serrrious tune. I haven’t watched X Factor since 2008, but I had heard about her via, well, just about everybody’s tweets, statuses, posts, various blogs, etc…so I knew she would be one to watch. If “Home Run” is any indication as to the type of direction/sound she’ll be serving up with her first album, then it’s going to be dope! Get into the track below…
