Today = the fourteenth issue of SCOUTS SHOUTS, where I blog about my favourite song of the week, my album of the week, film of the week…you get the idea. Be sure to check back every Thursday to see what’s hot that week.
Album of the week
Last Thursday, The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) dropped his new mixtape THURSDAY and it’s as moody and marvellous as “The House Of Balloons”. He once again manages to create a whole world within his songs and I just love that he has such a signature sound. If you haven’t already, head on over to his official site and download THURSDAY for free - http://the-weeknd.com/

Film of the week
This week I’ve been so busy, but I still somehow managed to cram in a couple of films, one being THE BANG BANG CLUB, based on well, The Bang Bang Club; Kevin Carter, Greg Marinovich, Ken Oosterbroek, and João Silva - four photographers who were active within the townships of South Africa during the Apartheid period, particularly between 1990 and 1994, from when Nelson Mandela was released from jail to the 1994 elections. The film stars Ryan Phillippe as Marinovich, Taylor Kitsch as Carter and Malin Akerman and I thought it was great. I was hooked throughout. I’m always interested to see how real life stories – history – are translated onto the screen, (as I have a real love for history and how the world we live in came to be, how countries came about, how their relations formed, the Western World, the East…everything really), and it was done well.

Nuff said. The pictures do ALL the talking.
