has most definitely arrived.
I think the fact that some of the hottest names in the music industry have jumped on her album, Eminem, Rihanna, Kanye West & Drake to name just a few, immediately indicates that there’s something special about Minaj. Despite this being her debut, I already feel like I know her because she’s been here, there and everywhere, dropping verses & spitting lines on pretty much everyone’s songs. But now is her moment. Her time.
She is not afraid to speak her mind.
ROMAN’S REVENGE fuses a pulsating beat with both Em and Nicki’s alter ego’s (Slim Shady and Roman Zolanski), while Rihanna sings on FLY, a song about empowerment. Kanye West sounds like he’s at home on BLAZIN’, one of my favourite tracks off the album.
Drake + Nicki = MOMENT 4 LIFE. Any song with two of the best artists (out there at the moment) should be single material, so let’s hope this gets the ‘chart treatment’. It definitely should be if CHECK IT OUT was a single. I understand that it’s a radio-friendly, pop song and one of the more commercial sounding tracks on the album, but I wouldn’t miss it if it wasn’t on the tracklist. Although, it does demonstrate her versatility.
She is not messing about.
She comes hard on this record,
like on HERE I AM. I love the drive of the guitar-esque synth.
She delivers strong vocals not only on single RIGHT THRU ME, but also on SAVE ME and DEAR OLD NICKI. Barbie can sing. At times she almost sounds like Dawn Richards (Danity Kane, Dirty Money).
I still love YOUR LOVE.
As she declares on the first track, ‘I’m the best’ and well, she is arguably the best chick in the game right now for sure. Pink Friday is out in Germany today and drops in the US and UK on Monday 22nd.
